Staff Attorney – Taxpayer Advocacy

Legal Aid Society is seeking to fill a full-time staff attorney opening working in accordance with the Low Income Taxpayer Clinic grant. The work will consist of a variety of matters which may include: providing legal representation to clients in federal income tax matters, including representation before the United States Tax Court; serve as an advocate with sufficient tax law expertise to oversee technical, substantive, and procedural matters; review education and outreach materials for technical accuracy before distribution; advise clients and collaborate with the Clinic Director, volunteers, and community partners; conduct community outreach and education throughout the 15-county service area; work with LAS’s Volunteer Lawyer Program and pro bono volunteers.  The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to Legal Aid Society’s mission to pursue justice for people in poverty as well as demonstrating the ability to work well with clients and serve alongside other members of the LAS team.
